Sports Programs
Super Soccer Stars
Super Soccer Stars run soccer development programs for children. Their Shine Program uses soccer as a vehicle to teach life skills to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities including but not limited to ASD. They work with a developmentally-appropriate curriculum that promotes the complete growth of each individual and encourages players to improve at his or her own pace. Their classes are non-competitive and use positive reinforcement to teach children soccer skills in a fun, engaging, and educational environment. Their unique curriculum is designed by a combination of education, behavioral, and soccer specialists to ensure that each child is developing skills, improving their self-confidence, and having fun. For the past 2 years, the Brooklyn Autism Center has partnerered with Super Soccer Stars Shine Program to offer soccer programming during our summer session.
SNACK Swim Program
snack* Swim provides children with a 1:1 private lesson and a fun environment to learn to swim while being able to socialize with other children. We have a great facility all to ourselves at St. Bartholomew’s Church with a locker room, heated pool and gym.
Fast Feet NYC
Fast Feet’s goal is to make running accessible and inclusive by providing adaptive programs for schools, non-profits, and communities that serve individuals with disabilities. They offer different programming options, in a safe and supportive setting, to assist individuals with special needs. Through the sport of running, they aim to help children and young adults realize their athletic potential, increase their personal fitness, build body awareness, build endurance, and push pass limitations associated with developmental differences.
Downtown Little League
The most exciting and inspiring baseball is played every Saturday morning when our challenger division kids compete together on the north field at our Battery Park City Ball FIelds. These children, who prior to 2007 never had the opportunity to participate in the Downtown Little League, now come out to show their enthusiasm and baseball spirit on the field, with the help of parents, NYU volunteers, DLL coaches and players from other divisions.
